First, it caused less concentration. In 1997, the incidents in nuclear factories were caused by the sleepy workers. Research proves that the lack of sleep impacts our concentration and it increases the percentage of both traffic and work accidents.
Second, it causes stupidity. Believe it or not, it does. I was shocked at first while reading the second effect haha but you know, sleeping plays an important role in brain's activities in thinking and studying. The lack of sleeping can really prevent the cognitive process in many things. For instance it affects our alertness, concentration, ability to solve problems, and speed in responding.
Third, it increases the risk of heat attack. Actually, there are lots of heart illnesses that can be caused by the lack of sleep such as heart attack, high blood pressure, irregular heart rhythm, diabetes, even stroke. According to scientists' survey, there are 90% people with insomnia tend to have an unwell heart condition.
Fourth, it affects our skin because it makes our skins become yellowish, swollen eyes, panda's eyes, and even skin illnesses. When our body lacks of sleep, our cells are going to release stress hormone or so called cortisol. In a certain amount, this hormone is highly able to damage our collagen cells which are keeping our skins flexibility.
Fifth, it affects our memory. In 2009, America's and France's researches found that a work in our brain or called "sharp wive ripples" which is responsible to keep and strengthen our long-term memories. That "sharp wive ripples" is produced while we are sleeping. So the lesser time we sleep, the lesser memories we have,
Sixth, it increases the risk of death. As we can see from the six effects above, it can be said that the lack of sleep increases the risk of death. Lots of small things we think are not important such as sleeping but you know it is very important. It has bad impact for our bodies and it can lead to death. Isn't it scary?
Seventh, it tends to increase our weights. A survey in 2004 said that people who sleep less than 6 hours per day have 30% more tendency of obesity than the ones who get enough sleep, 7-9 hours. It turns out while we are working in our sleeping hours, our appetites are getting bigger so that we feel hungry then eat. That condition also stimulates the needs to eat carbohydrate.
Aren't those 7 effects scared you?? To those who like to stay up until late at night, let's sleep earlier, guys! We should manage our times smartly so that we can get enough sleep every days. We need to let our body rest to gain new strength for the next great day! :D
